Rohit & Priya: From an Early Concept to a Home Beyond Expectations

For Rohit and Priya, building this home marked a completely new experience. Based in Sydney with their two daughters, the family of four were taking on their first home build in Australia this time creating a home of their own in Melbourne.

Building for the first time brought plenty of unknowns, but as their ideas were explored and refined, the experience gradually became one filled with confidence and excitement.

He recalled simply, “This is our first experience ever in Australia getting a home built.” For her, the finished home said it all, “We never imagined that the home would turn out this beautiful. I am very happy with this house.”

Long before the first plans were drawn, there was already something important in place trust. Previous conversations had created a genuine connection, giving them the confidence to begin their first build without feeling the need to look elsewhere. “We really developed very good connection and trust. So, because of that trust, I decided that I will be building a home,” he recalled. Having the confidence to begin didn’t mean they had every detail figured out.

Their vision developed gradually as they explored what they wanted from the home. As he explained, “It all started with the floor plan. I didn’t know what I expected.” Rather than starting with a fixed design, the floor plan evolved through conversations and considered changes. He shared, “We just consulted quite a lot, and then we made some changes, and it turned out to be what it is today.” Through that process, their ideas gradually came together, shaping a design that reflected what they had envisioned.

Choosing finishes for the first time brought some uncertainty. In the showroom, a tile, stone or flooring sample could look beautiful, but imagining how those choices would come together in the finished home was different. They carefully explored their options, and once everything was installed, many of their selections looked even better than they had imagined.

Speaking about seeing their selections within the finished spaces, he shared, “We are very, very happy. It really turned out well.” The patio tiles stood out even more once laid, while the bathroom finishes and stone looked even better once installed. Even the distinctive timber flooring became one of the choices they were particularly pleased with. “This was a bit of a different design and a unique one, but we chose this, and it ended up turning very, very well,” he explained. For her, one space became an immediate favorite. “I really liked the kitchen.” Together, those selections gave the finished home the character they had envisioned.

With work and business commitments keeping them busy, staying involved throughout their first build could have been challenging. Consistent communication and guidance helped make each stage easier to navigate. Whenever their input was needed, conversations were arranged around their availability, with guidance to help them understand their options and make the right decisions.

As he explained, “There were so many unknowns, so many things that I didn’t know how to respond.” Those unfamiliar moments became easier to navigate because they never felt they had to work through them alone. “They were very helpful and they helped me to find the right solution for each of those choices that I was supposed to make.” For their first building experience, that consistent guidance gave them the confidence to stay involved and make informed decisions throughout each stage of the build.

What began with trust continued through the way decisions were made throughout the home. Rather than needing to know exactly what to ask for, they became part of an ongoing conversation where ideas could be explored and refined. “It was a mutual consultation than me being directive and telling that it should be built in a certain way,” he explained.

That approach gave them room to ask questions, consider changes and shape the home around their ideas. Reflecting on that experience, he recalled, “I have never heard a statement saying, ‘This can’t be done’ or ‘We can’t do it.’” For them, that willingness to listen and work through each idea made their first build feel genuinely shaped around their choices.

Their home evolved gradually, with the floor plan as the starting point and each conversation helping shape the finished design. “We just consulted quite a lot, and then we made some changes, and it turned out to be what it is today,” he shared. Those changes extended into their selections, from the benchtop and tiles to the stone finishes and distinctive timber flooring, each adding to the home they had envisioned.

What mattered most was being able to make those decisions with guidance rather than feeling limited by what they already knew about building. Their ideas could be discussed, refined and translated into details that worked naturally within the overall home. Seeing all of those individual decisions finally come together left them delighted with the outcome. As he expressed, “Very, very happy with each installation in the home.”

A First Build That Became More Than Expected

They began this experience with trust, an early concept and the unknowns that came with building for the first time. As the process unfolded, conversations shaped the floor plan, and each selection brought another part of their vision together. By the time the home was complete, the result had exceeded what they initially expected. “I’m very grateful to say that they have actually surpassed my expectations. What we expected, we have seen much better results.”

That experience left a lasting impression, as he shared “They have just been very, very friendly and helpful and I can’t recommend them highly enough.” What began with trust ultimately became a home that delivered even more than they had hoped for.
